erapta ERT01 Camera

Erapta ERT01 Camera; welcome to focus garage today we're going to show you guys how to in solar install a rear view camera on a car that does not have it why do you want a rear view camera first of all because you want to see what's going on in the back when the mirrors rear view mirror and the side mirrors are not enough to show you what's going on and it's a really good option and if you have a car that it's 2015 and up you probably have one because it becomes standard on a lot of cars and it's government mandated.

So if you have a car that it's earlier than that and well yeah later than that 2014 13 whatever and you don't have it this will be a great upgrade for your car our friends in e-rep to send us a kit to review and install and it's a really nice case where we hear they have bunch of cameras are starting from $21.99 that goes all the way to hundred ninety nine and ninety nine so there's a lot of option out there you can pick from this camera kit right here is $119.99 so it's like 120 and you can pick these up from their website or you can use amazon as well.

They're pretty good shipping too if you use amazon so if you open the case you are greeted with these cards right here there's like a little insulation sheet that shows and troubleshooting as well and it's a congratulations card for buying it and then when you open it up you have the screen right here so if you don't have it and it has a magnetic back so you can just attach to the car there but since here we're gonna go back we're gonna get back to that show you guys what they do so when you dig in more to it you have all the here's your camera with the wiring are you here.

This is the mount magnetic mount well part of it this is the base right here and then this is your cigarette lighter or for the camp up enough for the camera for the screen or you can hardwire if you want to so we're gonna show you guys how to do it and with the cigarette lighter because I don't want a hard wire yet I just want to use a cigarette lighter and it's so much easier so we're going to install this kit on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra it's my fiance's car it doesn't have it so we're going to install this on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that's the only car that.

I have in my possession that does not have a reverse camera so it would be a nice upgrade for that car so couple of things you might be thinking and we will go over that when we're doing the installation one thing would be how does the camera going to operate like when you put it in reverse or is it going to be on on all the time so it's up to you kinda if you want it on all the time there's a really nice button right here on off for the screen so you can turn the screen off and on anytime you want I'm going to test it out with camera always on and then the screen is off and if you want it you can just turn it on and if you want to do it as a it's only on.

erapta ert01 manual

when you're reversing the kit has a really nice insulation guy telling you that if you look at the question be how to provide power to a camera you know Allah when they can't wear the car in reverse and such so it says you can connect the wires to the reverse light which is kind of smart way of doing it so your camera will get power when you put it in reverse because there's power to your reverse light so you could do that way or you could just plug it in and it's always on so there's one negative on connected connecting the camera and it's always on is you are taking away from the lifespan of the camera.

So if the camera is gonna you know I don't know the hours but let's say it's gonna perform 10,000 hours and you have 10,000 hours to use this camera you can either use it all the time 10,000 hours straight or you can just use it when you need it and that's gonna be a really long time so pick your poison and go with it but I'm going to test it out if my theory of running it all the time would work and also hopefully it doesn't the battery either so I mean your lights shouldn't I will be tapping into a wire that is only on when the car is on so let's go let's start so on this Hyundai there are access panels right here one two you can pop either one of those.

backup camera wiring schematic

Who feed the wires through what we're going to do is we're gonna remove this paneling right here to access to the light wiring and then we're gonna tap into that so we're gonna try to do this as clean as possible make it look oh em as possible so I'll show you guys one more when I remove if you have a different car you can watch a video of removing the back panel of the trunk panel or whatever they call it and you can go through yours actually to try to find any access holes you could I mean this is a pretty thin wiring so you could go through like any of these openings or anything like that so let's just keep cracking.

So what I have done is I into the wires that goes into the license plate license plate light I'm sorry and I tear into it a little bit you see some a little bit wiring and I use my multimeter to determine which one is positive and which one is negative from experience I know that the black one is always negative and then the other color would be positive but it's always good to double check because if you unhook it I mean if you hook it reverse you probably won't do a much damage but it would just not work so let's just keep going and I'm going to use these they call it Gator clips and they're really nice you don't have to splice you know you don't have to use anything you just use these or just taps in there and then you put your wire and done.

how to wire backup camera to stay on

So let's just do that and I'll show you guys and that would be it actually just removing it tapping into your wiring and just for the reverse camera and you have the dongle for that bluetooth right here that connects blue - I believe it's blue - that connects to the front screen so that's the wireless section of it so you don't have to do anything besides that so let's just keep going so we can see that it's all connected that has LED lights turned on you know and let's go back inside and see how it shows up on the screen we're inside the car let's go ahead and turn on the screen and bam if it didn't show up on your screen and you can use there's like three it's magnetic.

So you can swivel around it's really nice you can use three these buttons right here the middle one will change the channel so you can find the channel that your camera is on and then you will get this when you turn on the screen it just takes like less than a second to turn on there's a little bit of delay but overall it's pretty good it's a 5-inch screen so it's planning enough to see around you it's better than my Nissan I would say and better than a lot of OMS that I have seen out there so the night vision is pretty good those LED bulbs are those LED lights are working very well to light up the those two cars in the back and then there's one on the street and you can see the floor the ground as well so I would say it's a pretty decent camera you do get some interference when you move in front of it because it is wireless so you will get that.

pioneer reverse camera wiring diagram

But you know you don't you're not running the wires and also you don't really need to use your reverse camera more than 30 seconds you know I just anyway going back to the installation it was 7 out of 10 because you you have to use a special tool such as multimeter to find out which cable is positive or negative if you don't have one and if you never dealt with electrical issue it could be kind of difficult but if you follow through the instructions they're very clear and they're very shaped forward it will help you a lot and you should be able to get this done pretty quickly under 30 minutes depending on your car how much padding stuff that you need to remove in the trunk to get the wires tucked in so that really depends on the car but other than.

That I would I'm pretty happy with the installation I'm pretty happy with the camera I'm really happy that I got this version and set up the wired one because I didn't have to run the wires but currently it's being like interference a little bit because of the camera I think but other than that it's pretty decent it's kind of moving a lot but yeah it I would leave the link in the description for the product Amazon and their website as well so you can go either one of them to order it for yourself I would say it's a decent product it works well it does what it says and it's a very nice package and in the like I didn't have to do any funky stuff to get the screen working it worked as soon as.

I just went through the channels you know and found where the camera was and that was it and I can just like turn it off turn it back on and bam it's right there it's really nice so I'm going to wrap up this video thank you for watching and if you guys have any questions please leave a comment and you guys can always reach us on Facebook and Instagram we're pretty good responding back and let us know what you guys think about the product did you did you own it how long you owned it for we are going to review back and tell you guys how it survives the winter of Illinois and the summer of Illinois it's it's pretty hot right now and it's going to be really cold later on the winter time so we'll tell you guys if it survived or not and give you guys a little bit of feedback so kudos to all thanks for watching.
